Diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness in working-age adults and affects four of every ten people with diabetes. But only half of those who should be screened for diabetic retinopathy are screened. Now, primary care clinicians at the University of Florida can screen their patients with diabetes using the only FDA-approved artificial intelligence powered diagnostics software. Images are interpreted in real-time, and only sent to an ophthalmologist for review if inconclusive.
