ACEs are stressful or traumatic events experienced in childhood that were identified in the landmark Adverse Childhood Experiences Study and relate to 10 categories of abuse, neglect, and/or household dysfunction. Research shows that individuals who experienced ACEs are at greater risk of heart disease, diabetes, and premature death.
