Primary care is frequently the first point of contact for individuals with bipolar depression. Bipolar depression is often optimally diagnosed and managed by psychiatrists, but these professionals are a scarce and costly resource. Instilling greater confidence, knowledge, and competence among PCPs can improve their prospects for providing appropriate, safe, and effective care for individuals presenting with bipolar depression in a primary care setting.
