Office of the Future: Back by popular demand, double in size & more expert advice

Created by the Connecticut Institute for Primary Care Innovation, Office of the Future is an interactive innovative experience. Through partnership with the AAFP, this exhibit has grown to include resources galore! "While last year was all about inspiring, this year we want to extend the experience to really empower family physicians," said Theresa Wilkes, AAFP Medical Informatics Strategist.

When and Where

The Office of the Future is booth 1940 in the Exhibit Hall and open when the Exhibit Hall is open: 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, and 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday. Tours start about every five minutes in the Theater.

What's New

Following a tour of featured concepts beginning in the theater, new opportunities abound to help translate the experience and concepts introduced into actionable advice on how to operationalize these ideas within a practice.

  • Experts will staff the Knowledge Bar, answering questions about practice transformation and telehealth. Steven Waldren, MD, director of the Alliance for eHealth Innovation at AAFP, said Knowledge Bar experts will focus on practical advice about the next steps family physicians can take. "You can walk up and ask a quick question and get a quick answer, but there's seating there to have a more in-depth conversation about your particular practice and how to implement a particular piece of what you saw during the tour," he said.

  • The Technology Showcase
    • TTAC Technology Showcase, open 90 minutes daily, offers a rare opportunity to experience the gamut of peripheral devices and telehealth technologies.
    • Technology Demonstrations offering a deeper dive into useful solutions.
  • The Innovation Showcase featuring:
    • A Case Study Showcase providing a closer look at how other family physicians are using innovation to solve challenges in practice;
