Botulinum Injections for Cosmetic Rejuvenation and Medical Applications: Advanced

This advanced botulinum toxin workshop can augment the fundamental course or taken separately with prior exposure to greatly improve the results and satisfaction of your patients. Advance facial analysis and principles of beauty will be discussed. Understanding the anatomy of the face and function of the muscles of the face, the participants will learn to sculpt the face from the nose to the jawline. The workshop will cover the differences between the botulinum toxin agents (Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®) to treat bunny lines, smoker lip lines, eye brow lift, chin, jawline, down turned mouth, neck bands, and hyperhidrosis. The participants will learn the affiliated complications and side effects of each areas and how to minimize them. The participants will be able to practice mapping the injection sites on their peers and practice the injections on pig’s feet.

Note: This workshop is taught using animal products (i.e., pig feet, pork shoulder, chicken).

From attending this session, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in using saline injections for essential treatment areas typically treated with botulinum toxin.
  • Compare and contrast botulinum toxin treatment outcomes, safety, risks, complications, costs and benefits, among other factors that may be applicable to your practice.
  • Relate the mechanism of action of botulinum toxin injections to patients.
  • Analyze the cause and effect of muscle denervation and possible reinnervation related to short-term and long-term usage of botulinum toxin injections.
