Electrosurgery and Cryosurgery

The electrosurgery/cryosurgery workshop is a hands-on opportunity to learn about skin lesions that can be treated in office practice and do simulated treatments in the workshop. Multiple brands of electrosurgical and cryosurgical instruments will be available for participants to learn these skills and compare the equipment and supplies they may want to incorporate into their practices.

Note: This workshop will be taught using animal products (i.e., pig feet, pork shoulder, chicken).

From attending this session, you will be able to:

  • Practice electrosurgery and cryosurgery techniques.
  • Explore electrosurgery and cryosurgery as methods for destroying benign and malignant lesions, controlling bleeding, or cutting/excising tissue.
  • Evaluate the uses, risks, benefits and complications of both electrosurgery and cryosurgery.
  • Assess education and training you may need to competently perform electrosurgery and/or cryosurgery procedures.
