Splinting, Casting, and Wrapping

During this workshop you will get to apply all the splints you can use to help your patients including tension night splints (Plantar Fasciitis), cock up splints (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) and sugar tong splints and its modifications (initial immobilization of suspected fractures). Learn and practice different taping and wrapping techniques and apply the casts most frequently used like short arm and short leg casts.

From attending this session, you will be able to:

  • Assess injured bones or soft tissue to determine the stage and severity of the injury and determine the most effective mechanism of treatment.
  • Compare the indications for using casts, splints or wrapping and taping.
  • Evaluate appropriate imaging modalities for patients with acute or chronic injuries that require diagnostic imaging evaluation.
