FMX Electronic Posters (ePosters) Submission

The 2025 poster submission process has closed. 

The things you’re doing in medicine right now are nothing short of incredible. The AAFP wants you to take this opportunity to share what you’ve been working on with other family physicians and medical personnel.

FMX attendees will have the ability to view ePosters through the FMX mobile app.

In addition to the invited ePoster presentations, the authors of the top three (3) ePosters in the following categories will be invited to deliver live 10-minute presentations during a designated award showcase at FMX 2025.

Categories include: 

  • Medical Student Case Study
  • Medical Student Research
  • Resident Case Study
  • Resident Research
  • Family Physician Case Study
  • Family Physician Research

New Category for 2025:

Lifestyle Medicine Original Research by Residents and Medical Students

  • Up to twenty (20) posters will be selected for live 10-minute presentations during a designated award showcase at FMX 2025.

Lifestyle Medicine Poster Scholarships

New this year, FMX 2025 Lifestyle Medicine Poster Scholarships will be provided to students and residents by the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation with support from the Ardmore Institute of Health. 

The AAFP is accepting proposals for posters from residents and students based on original research on lifestyle medicine. Twenty posters will be selected for presentation at FMX. The primary author of each of the 20 posters will be invited to deliver live 10-minute presentations during a designated award showcase at FMX 2025, Oct. 5-9, in Anaheim, California. In addition, each primary author will receive a $1,000 scholarship after their poster presentation.

What To Include in Your ePoster

The criteria outlined below will be used by the judges when scoring each ePoster submission.

  • If you are submitting a case study, make sure to include or keep the following in mind:
    • Is this case important to family physicians? If so, explain why.
    • Is this case unique in any way? If so, please explain.
    • What can this case teach family physicians and how will it affect future practice?
    • What is the clarity and purpose of the study, and will it affect patient care?
  • If you are submitting a research project, make sure to include or keep the following in mind:
    • Is the research patient oriented?
    • Originality of the research topic.
    • What is the clarity and purpose of the research, and will it affect patient care?
    • What are the conclusions and next steps?

ePoster Application Information:

  • Deadline to submit is Sunday, June 22 | 11:59 p.m. CT
  • Encore submissions are allowed.
  • ePosters must be at least 250 words.
  • The primary author is responsible for responding to correspondence from the AAFP. If a request for additional information is not responded to in a timely manner, you may be disqualified.
  • A final version of the ePoster must accompany the application.
  • EACH author listed on an application MUST complete Option 1 of the AAFP’s CME Disclosure Form when the application is submitted.
  • An AAFP account is required prior to completing an application and the CME Disclosure Form

ePoster Guidelines:

  • ePosters must be one slide.
  • ePosters must be landscape or widescreen format (16:9 ratio).
  • Please submit your ePoster in a .jpeg, .jpg or .png format. Ensure it can be converted to a PDF and is clear, readable, not too small, and not blurry.
  • Include your title on your slide.
  • Tables, charts, pictures, or diagrams can be included.
  • All images must be labeled with a minimum of Arial font 14 point or larger.
  • For images/pictures or graphs, the suggested resolution is 300 dpi. To check that they appear correctly on the final version, zoom in at 100% and check the images. It is better to use high quality images when creating the poster and then convert it to PDF.
  • Provide clear labels or headings for each section.
  • Use black text and a consistent text size.
