International Attendees

If you live outside the U.S., start your FMX travel preparations early so you can join us.

Plan Your FMX Travel in Four Steps

Regardless of where you practice, you’ll benefit from the best family medicine education at FMX 2025—including a special global health preconference. We’ve broken down your to-do list into four steps to help you with your travel plans.

What’s Required for International FMX Attendees

1. Request an FMX Invitation

Email your request to the AAFP Member Resource Center with the following information.

  • Full name
  • Designation
  • Place of employment
  • Status (student, resident, faculty, practicing physician)
  • Email address
  • Name of AAFP event you want to attend

2. Apply for a Visa

Visit the U.S. State Department’s Visitor Visa website to get started.

Plan ahead: Visa appointment and processing wait times vary between U.S. embassies.

Stay up to date: Locate your closest U.S. embassy or consulate for the most accurate information.

3. Review U.S. Entry Requirements

A visa does not guarantee admission into the U.S. Review these entry requirements before you travel.

4. Register and Reserve Your Hotel Room

Ready to grab your spot at FMX? You can register and plan your trip in one place. The AAFP offers discounted rates in multiple hotels close to the convention center.

Select your room while registering for FMX. See all FMX hotels.
