Submission Guidelines

It is recommended you have all items listed below ready and in the required format before starting your online application.

  • Contact information (including AAFP ID)
    • Please provide personal email address as medical school/residency email systems often have spam filters/firewalls that hamper the receipt of external emails.
  • Answer to essay(s)
    • You are encouraged to give considerable thought to the essay and draft your answer in a separate document prior to beginning your application.
    • All applicants are required to answer the question, “What are your goals as a future physician and how will attending National Conference help you further achieve them?”
    • The AAFP is interested in recruiting a diverse group of scholarship applicants including students and residents from racial and ethnic groups underrepresented in the medicine, as well as students and residents from rural communities, lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and those interested in caring for underserved populations. If applicable, you may complete an optional essay question to briefly describe how you identify as someone underrepresented in medicine.

The required online application must be completed and submitted to the AAFP by June 1, 2021. Winners will be notified by July 1.

If you have questions about any National Conference scholarships, email Rachel Larsen or call (800) 274-2237, ext. 6369.
