Time-saving tips on how to transfer a current slide deck to the 2021 National Conference template:

  1. Open the PowerPoint file with your existing slides.
  2. In the thumbnail pane on the left side of the screen, hold Ctrl as you click the individual content slides you want to copy to the new template.
  3. With the slides highlighted, right click any slide and select Copy.
  4. Open the 2021 National Conference PowerPoint template and ensure the presentation is set to Widescreen/16:9 (on the Design menu under Slide Size).
  5. Right click the thumbnail pane below Slide #3; under Paste Options, select Use Destination Theme
  6. The slides will be copied into the new template and converted to the 2021 design. Review all slides for potential formatting issues as text and images may have shifted during the transfer.
  7. Add your workshop title and speaker name(s) to the grey title slide, and please be sure to keep Slide #6 to encourage attendees to follow and participate in National Conference social media.

Slides and Handouts: Send documents to Rachel Larsen.

  • Primary speakers (or their assigned designee) must submit slides on the National Conference template above by May 19. Slides must be approved prior to recording.
  • You may submit PDF handouts in addition to your slides, if desired. Handouts will be available for download on the virtual conference platform.
  • Attendees view slides and handouts to reinforce the workshop learning experience and to gain exposure to sessions they were unable to attend.
  • In 2019, National Conference handouts were downloaded more than 4,500 times.

Important Reminders

  • Each session will be 45 total minutes, including 35 minutes of content, 10-15 minutes of Q&A, and 10 minutes for attendees to transition to the next session. For the live broadcast, you must join your session 30 minutes prior to the start time.
  • Your workshop should not exceed its assigned length. Please manage the timing of your presentation and audience questions accordingly.
  • Sessions will be pre-recorded (mutually agreed upon date TBD, no later than June 18). Speakers, with the exception of OnDemand only, must also be available during the contracted date and time to answer live questions from attendees.
  • Each session will be presented one time during the virtual conference. All sessions will be recorded and available for viewing by attendees for at least 30 days following the event.
  • Registration for National Conference speakers is complimentary. You do not need to pre-register for the virtual event; staff will register you as a speaker.
  • You can find the conference schedule and other information online at aafp.org/NC.
