Supporting Research that Advances High Quality Patient Care

Research is essential to discovering new medical knowledge that improves primary care.  AAFP is committed to supporting research in order to advance the specialty of family medicine, to solve important problems relevant to family medicine, health care systems, and population health, and to improve care delivery and patient outcomes.

AAFP supports family medicine research in many ways, including:

    • Supporting and maintaining the AAFP National Research Network—a group of practices and individual affiliates that are interested in participating in family medicine research.
    • Primary Care focused Policy Research via the Robert Graham Center: Policy Studies in Family Medicine
    • Collaboration with the DARTNet Institute on aligned practice-based research initiatives
    • Participation with the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG)
