This bundle of coding reference cards supports physicians and practice team members in appropriately coding and documenting services commonly performed by family physicians. Each bundle includes one desk reference and one pocket-sized card on each topic, laminated for durability. Topics include:
- Childhood Immunization – One side of the card supports ancillary staff administration while the other side supports physician counseling with administration.
- Dermatology – Includes codes, descriptions, and considerations for skin tags, warts, foot care, and nail care. Addresses measures and margins, types of closure classifications, incision and drainage procedures, foreign body removal, office visits and same-day removals, multiple services, and coverage determinations.
- Preventive Services – Includes codes, descriptions, considerations, and frequency of coverage for Medicare wellness and prevention services and basic preventive services. Explains how to navigate the uncertainties surrounding insurance coverage and addresses Medicare carve-out services.
- Basic Obstetrics, Gynecologic, and Neonate – Includes codes, descriptions, and considerations for pelvic exams and pap smears; procedures for contraceptive services; colposcopy and endometrial procedures; basic obstetrics; and neonate care. As well as, coding guidance for contraceptive counseling encounters and touches on Medicare documentation requirements.
