Journal receives three awards for excellence in health care publishing

LEAWOOD, Kan. – The American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors recently recognized Family Practice Management with three awards for editorial excellence in health care publishing.

FPM received two awards for articles in the society’s Best Case History category: a Gold Award for “Controlling Hypertension” (September/October 2014) and a Bronze Award for “How to Monitor Opioid Use for Your Patients With Chronic Pain” (November/December 2014).

FPM also received a Bronze Award in the Best Feature Article Series category for its series of articles on ICD-10 implementation, coding and compliance.

“These awards are a testament to the value our editorial team and subject matter experts bring to Family Practice Management’s extensive audience of physicians and medical practice staff,” said Stephanie Hanaway, publisher and director of the American Academy of Family Physicians’ Journal Media Division. “We are honored to be among this year’s distinguished award recipients.”

Founded in 1947, the American Academy of Family Physicians represents 131,400 physicians and medical students nationwide, and it is the only medical society devoted solely to primary care.

Family physicians conduct approximately one in five of the total medical office visits in the United States per year – more than any other specialty. Family physicians provide comprehensive, evidence-based, and cost-effective care dedicated to improving the health of patients, families and communities. Family medicine’s cornerstone is an ongoing and personal patient-physician relationship where the family physician serves as the hub of each patient’s integrated care team. More Americans depend on family physicians than on any other medical specialty.
