Description
Although the primary residency at the instition where the program is located is Family Medicine, there is more inpatient experiences than most other Geriatric Fellowships. The hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center and geriatric inpatient consults are done on all trauma patients over 75 years old. The hospital has a small 10 bed ACE (Acute Care of the Elderly) Unit. All patients on the ACE Unit receive geriatric consults as part of a multidisciplinary team caring for patients. Some didactics and journal clubs are done jointly with the fellow from another community-based Geriatric Fellowships so there is more contact with other fellows.
