1) graduates of an accredited family practice residency program. 2)board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine. 3) obtain medical licensure in Alabama and Federal DEA certification 4) privileges at Huntsville Hospital in category one OB 5) submit a CV, 3 letters of recommendation including one from the Residency Director and one from Faculty/Preceptor responsible for obstetrical training 6) ALSO Certification

Description
Training occurs over 1 year and is dedicated to developing competency in obstetrical care. Approximately half of the time is spent on the in-patient OBGYN service at Huntsville Hospital with the remaining time divided among supervising FM continuity clinic, OB clinic, OB Ultrasound clinic, and GYN procedures clinic in our outpatient Family Medicine Center. The OB fellow functions as a family medicine faculty member with emphasis on teaching medical students and residents in various settings. The curriculum elements of Fellowship in Obstetrics and Women’s Health include: - Routine obstetrical care - Uncomplicated vaginal deliveries with/without use of vacuum/forceps - Cesarean sections with and without salpingectomy/tubal ligation - Dilatation and curettage - Postpartum tubal ligations - Obstetrics ultrasounds - Minor gynecological procedures such as IUD placement/removal, Nexplanon placement/removal, endometrial biopsies, cryotherapy, and colposcopy
