    Description

I am happy to report that we have been fully accredited in Sports Medicine starting in 2014 and we will be participating in the Specialty Match this year. We are recruiting 2 fellows, one Family Medicine and one Physical Medicine Rehabilitation graduate. Each will do the same required rotations, have the same sports coverage responsibilities and get two months of elective time, one of which may be away. Strengths of the program include: 7 core Primary Care Sports Medicine faculty members with a certificate of added qualification in Sports Medicine, one of the Top Medical Systems on the West Coast, one of the top Family Medicine Residencies in the country, and the team physician of a NCAA Division I school, Seattle University. The Primary Care Sport Medicine faculty includes those trained in Family Medicine, Physical Medicine Rehabilitation and Pediatrics. They are: Joe Shamseldin, MD, FAAFP (Director), Mike Erickson, MD (Associate Director), Carolyn Marquardt, MD (Associate Director), Andy Cole, MD, Sean Colio, MD, Carolyn Marquardt, MD, and Terrence Cronin, MD. In addition to the outstanding and well-rounded primary care faculty, we have a superb subspecialty faculty that include the orthopedic surgeon for the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners, the sports medicine internist who has long done the NBA rookie evaluations (an opportunity in which our fellows will join), multiple ski slope trauma physicians, the busiest orthopedic group in the city, all of whom are eager to teach. Our stellar faculty takes care of a large group of athletes of all ages. The sponsoring residency program for the Sports Medicine Fellowship, Swedish Family Medicine, Cherry Hill, is affiliated with the University of Washington and our fellows will enjoy access to all university resources, including the nationally-renowned Health Sciences Library, both online and on campus. We are located in the beautiful city of Seattle, every year voted as one of the best cities in the world to live and work. Joe Shamseldin, MD, FAAFP Fellowship Director
