Description
Based in a community health center in a largely Hispanic immigrant community, LFMR offers global health opportunity in our own continuity clinic and abroad. Through the Global Health Track, residents have the opportunity to explore the interaction of community and global health through longitudinal curriculum as well as clinical electives to our continuity sites in the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Ghana, Nepal, Zambia and Guatemala, in addition to other optional experiences.

Field experience
1. Ghana - Operating rooms, outpatient clinic, inpatient rounds under the supervision of our own faculty. 2. Nepal - trek through the Himalayas to conduct field clinics under supervision of our own faculty. 3. Guatemala - Rural, full-spectrum inpatient hospital and outpatient clinic serving indigenous Mayan community; experiences include emergency and obstetrical care and capacity of Cesarean sections; under supervision of LFMR faculty.
Didactics
Required pre-departure training self-study. Required report upon return from elective. Longitudinal global health curriculum delivered by expert faculty during the course of the year. Case-based daily teaching during electives.
