Description
The Area of Concentration in Travel/International Medicine is offered. It requires 10 hours didactic training, 10 supervised afternoons in the travel clinic, and attendance at a national travel medicine event, as well as a scholarly project. Individual non-AOC mission opportunities available.

Field experience
We offer residents an annual medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic. One- to two-week trips in the March/April time frame, depending upon interest. This is a two-pronged mission with both surgical and primary care elements. At times, residents have desired to go on their own trips to other countries which is supported and encouraged by our program
Didactics
Ten one-hour didactic sessions on core topics in travel medicine.

Additional cost information
Cost of mission trip depends on where you go. For AOC, one travel/international conference required, which is funded by residency CME funds. Cost for the trip to the Dominican Republic in 2019 was approximately $1300
