Description
This program entails an international area of study concentration for the interested JHMC resident through which the resident obtains an enhanced global medical perspective by conducting international health research, coordinating a travel medical clinic and participating in an international medical elective rotation. The program also coordinates international elective rotations for medical students, outside residents, and practicing physicians.

Field experience
The one-month medical rotations are supervised by partner physicians in the host nation and are located primarily in the urban centers. The rotations are conducted in a variety of disciplines including family medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, psychiatry, etc.
Didactics
Over the three-year residency, the JHMC family medicine resident in The Global Health Program conducts an international health research project, prepares and gives lectures on global health issues, assists with the travel medical clinic consultations, assists in Physician for Human Rights asylum evaluation cases, and conducts an international elective rotation.
