Program Description

Welcome to the Wellstar Douglas Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program. Our program was started back in the early ‘90’s. The faculty, residents and staff built it into one of the strongest programs in the southeast. Our two biggest assets are our residents and our faculty. Our residents are hardworking, compassionate physicians who have earned an excellent reputation in the hospital. For us, being an opposed program is an asset since our residents become an integral part of each team with which they rotate. Our faculty is steeped in full-breadth family medicine and truly cares about making sure each resident has an excellent educational experience in their three years here. While evidence-based medicine is important to us, we also believe in evidence-based learning: how to help you get the most out of your time with us. Providing in-depth teaching on a broad variety of patients, in both outpatient and inpatient settings, is the main way we provide this learning experience. Our hospital has been known for its excellence in student and resident education for over 50 years. We are in a town that offers all that you would expect from a large city but also has the southern hospitality that makes Atlanta such a popular place to live. Thanks for looking at our program!
