Program Description
Founded in 1967 as the first department of Family and Community Medicine at an academic medical center in the United States, the Penn State Health M.S. Hershey Medical Center Family and Community Medicine residency program’s vision is to create an inspiring, supportive academic environment producing the next generation of full-spectrum family physicians prepared to lead, teach, and thrive in a changing healthcare environment while serving our community. Our enthusiastic and accomplished faculty work with our residents to thrive personally and professionally through the pursuit of excellence in patient care, education, scholarship and community. Our program’s strengths include our culture of wellness and support, health systems management, quality improvement and population health, community advocacy projects, residents as educators, sports medicine, and scholarship/research. Residents may elect to take part in one of our areas of concentration which include sports medicine, global health, leadership & advocacy, academic medicine, care of marginalized populations, hospital medicine, and women's health.
