Description
The Cleveland Clinic Family Medicine Residency Program combines the best features of training at a state-of-the-art outpatient facility, community-based hospital and a major academic medical center. Residents are based at the Lakewood Family Health Center for outpatient and Fairview Hospital for inpatient training. Fairview Hospital is a 517-bed community hospital offering the latest in comprehensive, high quality medical care in a friendly, personal environment. Our community hospital is a regional center for heart, cancer, and maternity care. In addition to their clinical rotations at Fairview, residents also enjoy many of the educational resources offered by the Cleveland Clinic including selected rotations, the availability of sports medicine fellows, and family physicians as preceptors in the family practice center. Residents see their own continuity patients at the family practice center, located at the Lakewood Family Health Center, which is a 15 minute drive from Fairview Hospital. Our practice sees more than 20,000 patients per year, and offers residents ample clinical and practice management experience. Our office uses EPIC EMR with the MyChart patient portal. This EMR is integrated with the entire Cleveland Clinic system and offers access to records from hundreds of other doctor’s offices and nine hospitals. We are dedicated to preparing family physicians for lives of service to their patients and their profession. We have a special emphasis on health promotion and chronic disease care. Our faculty includes six full-time physicians, a behavioral scientist, a patient educator, and a family nurse practitioner. We also have consultants in OB/GYN and research. With years of practice and teaching experience, our faculty encourages collaborative learning and the acquisition of skills for lifelong learning. We value teamwork, respect, service excellence, and a healthy balance in our professional and personal lives.
