    Program Description

The UCLA Family Medicine Residency offers a unique combination of the academic benefits of a university program with the practical benefits of community-based teaching. At our Santa Monica site the program serves an ethnically and economically diverse population, from university employees to families from the local community. In addition, at our San Fernando Valley site we care for a diverse, medically indigent population that is predominately Latino and immigrant. Our program is known for academic excellence in both the inpatient and outpatient setting providing comprehensive clinical training to our residents. In pursuit of such excellence, the program empowers our residents to become effective teachers of their colleagues, nurses and patients — whether or not they are considering careers in academic medicine. Clinical care aside, we are a big happy family and maintain close working relationship between residents, faculty, and staff. We make sure that the professional and personal needs of each of our residents are nurtured throughout their training. The opportunity to train in one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse cities in the world allows our residents to maintain a perfect work-life balance. Being fifteen blocks away from the beach doesn’t hurt either. Please visit our website at www.gouclafamilymed.org to learn more about our program and its exciting opportunities.
