    Program Description

    Our FM Residents are the only residents at the program's primary hospital. The program maximizes resident learning by offering full patient care responsibilities & excellent faculty teaching. Our main goal: Equip residents with the skills to become competent, compassionate physicians while serving an underserved, culturally diverse people in Contra Costa County. Four different regional FM centers offer unique educational & practice opportunities. We have a very unique Registrar system which involved one-on-one attending-to-resident ratios on many inpatient services---providing residents with excellent mentors and an ability to make most inpatient decisions with an experienced primary care internist or family physician. Our residents and faculty have extensive experience in global health as part of our mission to serve the underserved.
