    Program Description

Our residency program offers comprehensive training in the full scope of family medicine, equipping residents with the skills needed for a wide range of practice settings including maternity care. Our residents benefit from a diverse patient population and hands-on learning without competition from other specialties. We host medical students from UAMS and other institutions, fostering a collaborative and dynamic educational environment. Our faculty brings a wide array of interests and expertise, including office-based procedures, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), geriatrics, sports medicine, disaster medicine, and obstetrics - providing residents with exposure to many potential career paths within family medicine. Located in the scenic Arkansas River Valley, our program offers an exceptional quality of life. Whether you're interested in history, art, or just looking to cool off and have some fun, Fort Smith has something for every kind of explorer. Centrally positioned between Northwest Arkansas, Tulsa, Dallas, and Little Rock, Fort Smith is just a short drive from a wide range of attractions.
