    Program Description

Our program offers a unique and well-rounded experience within a community-based hospital environment, providing a personalized and supportive setting for your medical training. Here are some of the key features that set our program apart: Community-Based Hospital: With 304 private beds, our hospital offers a close-knit, community-focused atmosphere that allows for individualized learning opportunities and a strong sense of camaraderie among residents and faculty. Sports Medicine Track: We provide a dedicated sports medicine track, allowing residents to gain specialized experience in this dynamic and growing field. Comprehensive Pediatric Training: Our full-time Pediatrician is available in-office for precepting, ensuring consistent, high-quality pediatric education. Additionally, the absence of a pediatric residency within the institution means our family medicine residents receive hands-on experience with pediatric patients. Obstetrics and Family Medicine Faculty: We have full-time OB-FM faculty dedicated to the program, providing comprehensive training in obstetrics within family medicine. This is further enhanced by the fact that our institution does not have an OB residency, giving our residents primary responsibility for obstetric care under the guidance of experienced faculty. Private Family Medicine Inpatient Service: Our inpatient service is exclusively run by Family Medicine core faculty, offering a unique opportunity for residents to manage their own patient panels with the support of dedicated, experienced mentors. Newborn Rounding by FM Core Faculty: Our program emphasizes continuity of care, with newborn rounding led by our Family Medicine core faculty, ensuring that residents gain robust experience in caring for the youngest patients. Affiliations with Major Medical Schools: Our program maintains strong affiliations with Wayne State University and Michigan State University School of Osteopathic Medicine, offering a diverse educational environment and access to a wide range of academic resources. Faculty Support: In addition to our full-time faculty, we have four additional part-time core faculty members in the office, providing a broad base of expertise and mentorship across various specialties. Flexible Procedure Scheduling: While we do not have designated procedure days in the clinic, procedures can be scheduled during regular appointment times, allowing for greater flexibility and integration of procedural skills into everyday practice. Consistent Board Pass Success: Since the opening of our residency program in 2009, we are proud to have maintained a 100% Board pass rate, reflecting our commitment to academic excellence and the thorough preparation of our residents for their careers. These characteristics create a comprehensive, flexible, and resident-focused program designed to prepare you for a successful and fulfilling career in family medicine.
