    Program Description

Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa’s Family Medicine Residency will welcome its first class of six residents in July 2018! Our exciting new program builds on Kaiser Permanente’s 70-year commitment to graduate medical education and the long heritage of Santa Rosa as a model for full scope Family Medicine practice and education. Kaiser Permanente’s integrated health care system uses innovative, high-tech, patient-centered and team-based care to prevent disease, promote health, and reduce healthcare disparities. With an innovative curriculum designed to maximize learning, a dedicated and skilled faculty across our medical center, and strong affiliations with UCSF and local FQHC Petaluma Health Center, we offer exceptional training to prepare our graduates to practice and lead in any setting. Highlights specifically offered by our program include a strong integrative medicine curriculum and the opportunity for certification, robust community medicine and global health experiences, a 24/7 midwifery service as part of the maternity care team, superb sports medicine training, a full-time research project manager dedicated to residents, nationally recognized LGBTQ care, a capstone curriculum in the beginning and end of each year of residency, and a plethora of leadership opportunities. Our mission is to train Family Medicine physicians to become exceptional clinicians and compassionate leaders who will transform the culture of the healthcare system and maximize the total health of the community in which we live and work. Santa Rosa (and Sonoma County) is an incredible place to live, with easy access to San Francisco, the coast, redwoods, the Russian River, and Tahoe. Year-round outdoor activities and a rich community culture abound, with live music, local coffee, farm-to-table foods and farmers’ markets, and renowned wineries and microbreweries. You’ll have plenty to do on your days off!
