    Program Description

The Greer Family Medicine Residency Program started in July 2020. We are a 6-6-6 program located at the Prisma Health Greer Memorial Hospital in Greer, SC. Our mission is to train competent, caring, community-oriented family physicians. Our program values resident education, providing excellent care for our patients, and serving our surrounding community. Our innovative curriculum ensures residents are competent in the traditional skills required by family physicians while preparing them for the future of clinical practice. The Center for Family Medicine-Greer is our residency continuity clinic. Our clinic is housed in a new 36,000 sq foot GME building on the Greer Campus and includes: 24 exam rooms, procedure rooms, a point-of-care lab, a x-ray suite, a conference room, resident work room, and other spaces for resident wellness. The majority of the inpatient training takes place at the Prisma Health Greer Memorial Hospital, an 82 bed community hospital. The hospital has 62 Adult Medical Beds, 10 ICU Beds, 10 Labor and Delivery Beds, 3 GI Endoscopy Suites, 4 Operating Rooms, and a 25 Bed Emergency Room. Multiple Prisma Health groups are located on the Greer Campus including: Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Pulmonary, Oncology, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Urology, Colorectal Surgery, Orthopedic/Sports Medicine, and Pediatrics. PGY1 Pediatric Inpatient Rotations occur at the Prisma Health Children's Hospital located approximately 18 miles away in Greenville, SC. Our residents participate in scholarly activity through teaching medical students, developing and implementing clinical quality improvement projects, and modeling best practices for other primary care clinics in our region. The residency is fully supported by Prisma Health and the USC School of Medicine-Greenville.
