Does the system create zombie doctors, going through the motions and feeling powerless?
Medicine is about human relationships, but modern practice is removed from the experience. In fact, physicians are so dissatisfied with the status quo, barely half would go into medicine if they had to do it again. Struggling himself with burnout after a 10-year hospitalist career at Stanford, Zubin Damania, MD, reconnected with his passion, and found the power to shake up the medical system and revolutionize the care model.
He is now the Director of Healthcare Development for Downtown Project Las Vegas, an ambitious urban revitalization movement spearheaded by Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh.
Created by TED’s founder, TEDMED(www.tedmed.com) convenes and curates extraordinary people and ideas from all disciplines both inside and outside of medicine in pursuit of unexpected connections that accelerate innovation in health and medicine.
Best known for their annual event, TEDMED is a year-round global community.
