To support the AAFP in identifying emerging technologies to improve human interactions in the exam room and provide feedback on current and future EMR changes.

Objectives

  • To work collectively on making EMRs more provider-friendly and intuitive
  • To reduce provider time spent on the EMR
  • To assist AAFP staff with EMR enhancement pilots and provide feedback on current and future EMR changes
  • To support the AAFP in identifying emerging technologies to improve human interactions in the exam room
  • To assist the AAFP in the recruitment and retention of members with an interest in EMR Optimization.

Long-term Goals

  • To improve EMR systems using MIG member feedback
  • To prevent burnout of members by mentoring and partnering members with EMR problems with those who can offer solutions and support
  • To explore developing technologies and help shape the future of medical documentation
