Medical students can join for free! Membership ends automatically upon graduation or withdrawal from medical school. .

Because AAFP membership is unified, medical student members are required to belong to the national Academy, as well as to their regional and (if available) local chapters.
Chapters offer local and regional opportunities to network, mentor, volunteer, take leadership roles, and get involved in the AAFP. There are chapters for all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Uniformed Services, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
Chapter memberships are also free until graduation or withdrawal from medical school.
