NOTE: The AMA House of Delegates (HOD) annually allocates delegate positions to state and specialty societies based on the number of their members that are also AMA members. The allocation is announced on or before February 1 of each year, and the delegate count is adjusted accordingly. Depending on the delegation size, there will be an opportunity for one RFS representative to also serve as a HOD delegate for the Annual and Interim meetings that year. This additional responsibility will require two or three extra days of service at the AMA meeting. Travel expenses, including per-diem payment, will be provided by the AAFP. If an increase occurs, additional information will be provided by AAFP Medical Education staff.
Represent AAFP resident interests at AMA meetings and interact with AMA delegates from the AAFP.
Time commitment away from residency: 12 days
Funding: Travel expenses are reimbursed according to AAFP policy
Required elements of the application include: Letter of Interest, Letter of Chapter Support, Letter of Support from Program Director, and a Photo. This position is appointed by the AAFP Board of Directors after review and recommendation by a selection committee, and confirmed by the SNMA Board of Directors.
