Mark Your Calendar: New Dates Set for 2021 COD Regular Session

August 26, 2021, 2:26 p.m. News Staff ― It’s official: New dates have been set for the in-person Regular Session of the 2021 Congress of Delegates that previously had been postponed because of COVID-19 concerns.

Delegates and other prospective attendees should mark their calendars for the Feb. 5-7, 2022, meeting in Kansas City, Mo., which will be held at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center in the city’s bustling downtown district. If for any reason conditions at that time preclude meeting in person, the session will be held virtually on those dates.

Stay tuned for information on booking your hotel reservations and registering for the meeting. In addition, details regarding the deadline for submitting resolutions and information about reference committee logistics and participation are still being finalized and will be shared as soon as they become available.

And just as a reminder, a Special Session of the 2021 COD will take place virtually on the originally scheduled 2021 COD dates of Sept. 27-28; during that session, new AAFP officers and directors will be elected. The Academy’s Board of Directors made this decision because they thought it was important to maintain the traditional 12-month election cycle. Learn more about the Special Session and this year’s candidates for office by visiting aafp.org/congress.

Finally, for sharp-eyed readers who think those Feb. 5-7 dates look familiar, you’re right. The AAFP Winter Cluster was originally scheduled for those dates. Because the commissions meeting for the cluster focus their work largely on COD resolutions, that event will now be postponed until March 2022 and will be held virtually. More information about Winter Cluster will be shared when available.
