Jan. 30, 2025, News Staff — It’s time to review the accomplishments you and your family physician colleagues have made to the specialty and apply for recognition with one of several major AAFP awards.
Four awards have application deadlines of March 1, and applications for three others are due later in March.
The AAFP Public Health Award recognizes members who have dedicated their careers to improving public health.
The John G. Walsh Award for Lifetime Contributions to Family Medicine honors individuals whose long-term dedication and effective leadership have furthered the development of family medicine.
The Humanitarian Award honors extraordinary and enduring humanitarian efforts by Academy members both within and beyond the borders of the United States.
The Exemplary Teaching Award for Continuing Professional Development recognizes AAFP members who have demonstrated exemplary teaching skills, implemented outstanding educational activities or developed innovative CPD teaching models. (Note that CPD speakers and authors may not nominate themselves for this award.)
Applications must be postmarked by March 7: The Robert Graham Family Physician Executive Award recognizes an Academy member whose skills as an executive have contributed to providing high-quality health care and demonstrated the impact family physicians can have on improving the nation’s health.
Applications due March 15: The Thomas W. Johnson Award for Career Contributions to Family Medicine Education recognizes outstanding contributions to family medicine in undergraduate, graduate and continuing education spheres.
Applications due March 15: The Exemplary Teaching Awards for Medical Education recognizes full- or part-time faculty and volunteers who show outstanding teaching skills, as well as those who have implemented outstanding programs or developed innovative teaching models.
