• End of 2018 MIPS Program Performance Year Looms

Prepare Now to Submit Data Beginning Jan. 1, 2019

November 05, 2018, 02:57 pm News Staff – It's hard to believe the calendar page just flipped to November. And that means the end is drawing near for the 2018 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) performance year that closes on Dec. 31.

Family physicians across the country should be preparing to submit their 2018 performance data; the submission period runs from Jan. 1, 2019, to March 31, 2019

CMS is reminding physicians that to access the Quality Payment Program portal to record their data, they first must have established their Enterprise Identity Data Management (EIDM) account user ID and password.

CMS established the EIDM system to provide physicians and practices a single user ID that enables access to more than 60 CMS health care applications.

Physicians who do not yet have an EIDM account should create one soon. To do so, navigate to the CMS Enterprise Portal and select "New User Registration."

To register, users must enter the application name -- choose "PV: Physician Quality and Value Programs" from the drop-down menu, agree to the terms and conditions, and proceed.

The user will be asked to enter, among other things,

    • the organization's legal business name, address and phone number,
    • the taxpayer identification number, and
    • the corresponding individual provider transaction access number.

Once the EIDM account registration is complete, the user will receive an email acknowledging successful creation of the account. The unique EIDM user ID and password can then be used to log in to the Quality Payment Program portal.

CMS also encourages physicians who already have an EIDM account to take a few moments now to verify their EIDM credentials and avoid any glitches in submitting 2018 MIPS data early in 2019.
