The AAFP is partnering with the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) in an initiative supported by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) with the aim of creating Technical Assistance Teams designed to build clinical proficiency of prescribers and others to address chronic pain, opioid use disorders (OUDs), and delivery of medication assisted treatment (MAT).

The AAFP is recruiting family physicians who have expertise or experience in substance abuse/addiction and medication assisted treatment or are interested in obtaining a waiver to prescribe MAT.
