Quality Payment Program: Small Practice, Underserved, and Rural Support
Quality Payment Program
Small Practice, Underserved, and Rural Support (QPP-SURS)
QPP Technical Assistance for Small and Rural Practices
What is QPP-SURS?
The Quality Payment Program-Small Practice, Underserved, and Rural Support (QPP-SURS) program is one of four technical assistance programs funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to assure that all eligible clinicians (ECs) in MACRA’s Quality Payment Program (QPP) have access to the support they need to prepare for the two payment tracks under QPP: Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (AAPMs).
The technical assistance offered by QPP-SURS is free-of-charge. The QPP-SURS only serves small practices of 15 or fewer ECs, with a focus on those located in medically-underserved areas, health professional shortage areas, and rural locations.
What assistance will I receive?
The QPP-SURS program works with practices to assess their needs and offer individualized guidance to help them successfully participate in QPP. Support offered by QPP-SURS includes:
- Selection of quality measures and activities to report for each performance category under MIPS
- Reporting for MIPS
- Engagement in quality improvement
- Optimization of health information technology
- Evaluation of options for joining an AAPMs

How do I access the technical assistance provided by QPP-SURS?
