1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. PARTICIPATION ON INSTAGRAM WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
2. ELIGIBILITY: Open to medical students and medical residents of the 50 United States, District of Columbia, Guam, Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico 18 years of age and older as of May 3, 2025. Employees of the American Academy of Family Physicians (“AAFP”) and members of their immediate families are not eligible. Void where prohibited.
3. HOW TO ENTER: This giveaway begins on May 3, 2025, at 12:01 am (CDT) and ends May 10, 2025, at 11:59 pm (CDT). There are two methods of entry.
Method 1: To be eligible to win, complete all of the following steps: (a) follow the @afpjournal Instagram account; (b) like the post captioned “In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of American Family Physician, we are excited to announce a raffle for medical students and residents to win free registration for the AAFP FUTURE Conference in Kansas City, MO, from July 31 to August 2, 2025!”; and (c) comment on the post with your current medical training status and year level and tag at least two colleagues in the comments, indicating their status as a medical student or medical resident. For each additional colleague you tag in the comments (including their status as medical student or resident), you can earn up to three (3) additional entries (for up to four [4] total entries).
Method 2: Send an email to afpedit@aafp.org with the name of this contest as well as your full name, telephone number, and email address. When using this method of entry, you may enter up to four (4) times during the giveaway period.
Use of any robotic, automatic, programmed, or similar entry method or entering more than the number of times permitted will void all entries and result in disqualification. You may not enter more times than indicated by using multiple email addresses, identities, or devices in an attempt to circumvent the rules.
4. DRAWING: Random drawings will be conducted by AAFP on the following date and time: 3:00 p.m. CT on Friday, May 16, 2025.
AAFP will select one medical student and one medical resident from among all eligible entries received by 11:59 pm (CDT) on May 10, 2025. Odds of winning a prize depend on the number of entries received by 11:59 pm on May 10, 2025. Potential winners will be notified by “DM” on Instagram and/or by email on or after May 17, 2025, and must respond within five (5) business days of the date notice is received or such other date set by AAFP. Failure to respond within the applicable time period will result in forfeiture of prize and AAFP shall have the option to award the applicable prize to an alternate winner by random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries. The return of any prize notification or prize as undeliverable may result in disqualification and an alternate winner may be selected. Prizes are non-transferable. All taxes (including, but not limited to all income, local, state and federal taxes) resulting from acceptance of the prize(s) will be the sole responsibility of each winner. The winner may be required to complete and deliver to AAFP a W-9 form. By entering this giveaway, entrant accepts and agrees to these Official Rules and the decisions of AAFP, which shall be final in all matters. Acceptance of a prize also constitutes permission for AAFP to use the winner’s name (and state and AAFP chapter affiliation) for marketing purposes without further compensation or right of approval, unless prohibited by law. All federal and state laws apply.
5. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: By entering this giveaway, entrants waive all right to, and hold AAFP harmless from, any claim, liability, loss, damage (including punitive, incidental, and consequential damages), or expense (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in connection with participation in this giveaway or the acceptance, use, or misuse of any prize. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. AAFP will not be responsible for: late, incomplete, or incorrect entries; an entrant’s failure to receive prize notices due to entrant’s spam, junk e-mail, or other security settings or for entrant’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information; technical, hardware, or software malfunctions, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete, garbled, or delayed electronic communications whether caused by the sender or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or used in this giveaway; by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in this giveaway; or any typographical, technological, or other error in the publishing of the offer, administration of the giveaway, or announcement of the prizes. If, in AAFP’s opinion, there is such an error, or there is any suspected evidence of tampering with any portion of the giveaway, or if technical difficulties (including viruses and bugs) compromise the integrity of the giveaway, AAFP reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or modify this giveaway in a manner deemed appropriate by AAFP. In the event of termination, winners will be selected from among all eligible entries received as of date of termination. In the event a dispute arises as to the identity of a potentially winning entrant, entries will be declared made by the name on the online entry form.
6. PRIZE: free registration for the AAFP FUTURE Conference in Kansas City, MO, from July 31 to August 2, 2025 (approximate retail value $125 for student registration/$225 for medical resident registration). Winners will have their registration provided for free or reimbursed (for those already registered). All other expenses associated with attending the conference are the responsibility of the winners. The AAFP makes no representations or warranties as to the prizes, and the winners accept the prize “as is.” AAFP reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. If a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, AAFP will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner by random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries. Only two alternate drawings will be held, after which the price will remain un-awarded.
7. CHOICE OF LAW AND FORUM: Entrant agrees that all matters arising out of or relating to this giveaway and these Official Rules are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Kansas, without giving effect to any of its conflicts of law provisions thereof. Entrant further agrees that any legal suit, action, or proceeding arising out of or relating to this giveaway and these Official Rules shall be brought exclusively in the applicable federal or state courts located in Leawood, Kansas.
