  1. For hospitalized patients at risk of pressure ulcers, use high-specification foam mattresses and medical grade sheepskins instead of standard hospital foam mattresses to prevent ulcer development.

  2. For patients with previous venous leg ulcers, recommend compression therapy to prevent ulcer recurrence.

  3. For patients with venous leg ulcers, recommend compression therapy (unless contraindicated) and prescribe oral pentoxifylline to hasten healing.

  4. For patients with venous leg ulcers with superficial venous reflux, consider early endovenous ablation with compression therapy to decrease ulcer healing time and increase ulcer-free time.

  5. For patients with critical limb ischemia, infrainguinal arterio-occlusive disease, and significant medical comorbidities, consider percutaneous transluminal angioplasty over bypass surgery.
