I share the disappointment that Bobby J. Newbell, MD, feels about the inability to go absolutely paperless [“The Paper Chase,” July/August 2008]. The amount of time I spend working on the stacks of paper delivered to my inbox throughout the day, everyday, is just ridiculous!

However, I am very thankful, despite the voluminous paperwork, that I can dictate on our wireless system, sign charts electronically and view imaging studies through our picture archiving and communication system from the convenience of my home or hotel room. I can't imagine not having these capabilities in our institution.
