The Family Physician Who Cares for Transgender Patients in Five Southern States

When Izzy Lowell, MD, MBA, was starting out in family medicine, she wanted to open a university clinic focused on serving nonbinary and transgender people. She’d been cautioned that patient demand would be so minimal that the clinic could never survive, but almost immediately after its launch, she found herself at full capacity. Since then, Dr. Lowell has opened the telehealth-based practice QMed. She now provides care for transgender and gender nonconforming patients full time, across five states.

Watch this webcast to learn how she flexes her skills as a family physician to make a difference, and discover what students need to know today to ensure every patient has access to trans-friendly primary care in the future.
