Am Fam Physician. 1998 Jul 1;58(1):52.

The patient information handout that accompanied the article “Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis” (May 1, 1998, page 2135) contained an error. In the first paragraph, the phrase “SCFE may occur in one or both legs” was omitted. This omission led to the implication that SCFE always occurs in both legs; SCFE is bilateral in only 25 to 40 percent of cases.
