• CMS extends preview period for Physician Compare

Technical problems have forced the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to extend the deadline for physicians wanting to review the information about them and their practices that the agency plans to release publicly through the Physician Compare website.

Originally, physicians had until Nov. 17. But glitches prevented the data from properly displaying in the Provider Quality Information Portal (PQIP), during the first week of the preview period. CMS has resolved this issue and is extending the preview period through Friday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. (Eastern) to provide more time.

For more information about Physician Compare, public reporting, the preview period, or the measures available for preview, you can visit the Physician Compare Initiative page or send an email to PhysicianCompare@Westat.com. For assistance with accessing the PQIP, you can contact the QualityNet Help Desk at 866-288-8912 or qnetsupport@hcqis.org.
