• COVID-19: Changes to CME Requirements

As you focus on serving your patients, and AAFP has canceled all live, in-person CME events through the end of 2021, we want to make sure you have one less thing to worry about. Thus, we have made the following changes related to CME requirements:

    • AAFP members whose CME re-election cycle ends on Dec. 31, 2020, who have not met the requirement, will have an additional year to fulfill their CME requirement.
    • At their September 2021 meeting, the AAFP Board of Directors simplified the CME requirement for continued active membership. Effective immediately, the revised CME requirement removes the stipulation that  25 credits must be live activities. Active members must still earn and report 150 credits of CME every three years. A minimum of 75 hours must be prescribed credit. The remaining credits may be prescribed, elective, or a combination of both. Earning live credit at in-person meetings will still apply towards the required 75 prescribed credits.

We hope these changes provide you with the flexibility you need to remain an AAFP member.
