As you focus on serving your patients, and AAFP has canceled all live, in-person CME events through the end of 2021, we want to make sure you have one less thing to worry about. Thus, we have made the following changes related to CME requirements:

Yes, your next CME re-election cycle will be extended by one year. If you prefer to not have your re-election cycle extended, please contact our Member Resource Center staff at (800) 274-2237 or aafp@aafp.org, and they can adjust your re-election cycle dates.
No. At their September 2021 meeting, the AAFP Board of Directors simplified the CME requirement for continued active membership. The revised CME requirement removes the stipulation that 25 credits must be live activities. Active members must still earn and report 150 credits of CME every three years. A minimum of 75 hours must be prescribed credit. The remaining credits may be prescribed, elective, or a combination of both. Earning live credit at in-person meetings will still apply towards the required 75 prescribed credits.
