You’re focused on the overall health of your patients, from body to mind. So identifying and managing their mental health needs is a bigger priority than ever. You’ll need resources that address a spectrum of mental health-related issues, from stress to suicidal thoughts, and challenges that your most vulnerable patients face.
Use AAFP’s emotional well-being resources to recognize signs of depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and more. These include tools to understand teen suicide and depression and post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury in military veterans. An additional AAFP toolkit offers you support to diagnose, treat and manage adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
May is also Mental Health Awareness Month. It's an importance observance for the AAFP, because patients most frequently reply on their primary care physicians mental health services. We're adding our voice to the national conversation about mental health needs, and continue to support our members who are working so hard to support their patients.
