The article “Approach to the Vaso-occlusive Crisis in Adults with Sickle Cell Disease” (March 1, 2000, page 1349) contained an error in the next-to-last sentence of the first paragraph on page 1350. The sentence should read as follows: “Patients with homozygous sickle cell and sickle cell–β°-thalassemia have a higher frequency of vaso-occlusive pain crises than patients with hemoglobin SC and sickle cell–β+-thalassemia genotype.6,7
