Haven't received your AAPM bonus? There's still time to fix your billing info

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced in September that some physicians needed to verify their billing info by Nov. 13 to receive Advanced Alternative Payment Model (AAPM) bonuses for the Quality Payment Program’s (QPP) 2018 performance period. This week, CMS extended the deadline to Dec. 13.

Many eligible clinicians who were qualifying participants based on their 2018 performance began receiving their 5% AAPM bonuses last month. If you have received your bonus, you do not need to do anything. But if you have not received it and your name is on this public notice, you will need to verify your Medicare billing information by Dec. 13 to get your payment.

The CMS QPP website includes more details. To access the bonus amount and organization paid, log in to the QPP website using your HCQIS Access Roles and Profile (HARP) credentials.

CMS also posted a new 2020 Alternative Payment Model (APM) Incentive Payment Fact Sheet that explains:

  • Who is eligible to receive an APM incentive payment in 2020,
  • How CMS determines your 2020 APM incentive payment,
  • Frequently asked questions and answers.

For more information, download and review the Qualifying Participant Public Notice File for Payment Year 2020 Excel Spreadsheet and supporting forms in the 2020 Qualifying Participant Notice for APM Incentive Payment zip file. The spreadsheet will indicate which form you need to submit — the IP Form and/or 588 Form — in order to verify your Medicare billing information.

If you have questions, you may contact the QPP at QPP@cms.hhs.gov or 1-866-288-8292. To receive assistance more quickly, consider calling during non-peak hours — before 10 a.m. or after 2 p.m. ET.
