Aetna changes method for requesting fee schedule
Aetna has changed its procedures for requesting fee schedules as of June 1. While the insurer’s intent is to simplify access, Aetna has retired its fee schedule mailbox and practices will have to transition to new workflows to avoid delays.
Here’s how to request fee schedules under the new process.
For small requests
Requests of 10 codes or fewer can still be submitted via phone or in writing:

For larger requests
For requests of 11 or more codes (including full fee schedules), physicians who have direct contracts with Aetna can access fee schedules directly through the Availity provider portal. This is now the preferred and fastest method.
Physicians who don’t have direct contracts with Aetna can submit large requests using the “Contact Us” form on the Availity or Aetna websites. Select “Fee Schedule” as the request type and be sure to include your service address (all locations, if applicable) and Tax Identification Number(s) (TINs). Aetna will deliver by mail fee schedules requested in this manner.
