Aetna to stop paying for consultation codes

Aetna will no longer pay office consultation codes 99241, 99242, 99243, 99244 and 99245, starting with dates of service March 1 and beyond.

The company says claims submitted with these codes with a date of service on or after March 1 will be mapped to the appropriate office visit evaluation and management code (99202-99215) and paid at that rate. Claims won’t be denied or need to be resubmitted.
